So, what have you been doing this week? Well, Sunday I went to church and I called my friend Shelby. I was going to go by myself, but she said her parents had left for church without her, so we went together. After church, we went to the store and got food and ate outside in the park, and that was really beautiful. I’ve gone to school all week. After school I went to work a couple of days. I work at a retirement community. Maybe you should explain what a retirement community is. OK. It’s like a big neighborhood with rich old people. It’s a nice place to stay, and it has an assisted living section for people who need nurses. It’s really fun, but it’s hard work too. I work in the dining room. I really enjoy working with elderly people. Some of them are my friends. Not all the time, but sometimes you can tell you bless them just by being there. What else have you been doing? I started track this week. The track season started two months ago, but two of the girls got hurt, so the coach asked if I would run. Everyone else was in shape, so I was running and inside going “Uh ow!” That was Friday, so then I went to my second job to waitress at a Japanese restaurant. It was really busy, so I pretty much worked my butt off, ’cause you have to clean and a lot of things. A friend picked me up and we went to her house for a birthday party after work. We ate way too much ice cream and stayed up way too late because I had to get up early Saturday morning and go to school to help with landscaping for community service. At my school, a certain number of hours of community service are required each year, so I choose things I like. I had a really good time, as much fun as you can have weeding and mowing and potting flowers. I killed my back because I had to go between the cracks of the bricks in the sidewalk and clean out moss. It was kind of hard. I went home, took a nap, and then I went to work again at the Japanese place. So you are really busy. Do you enjoy your life? Yeah, I do. Sometimes I don’t like being so busy. Today I couldn’t go to church because I had to go to work at 11:00. So I got a teaching tape and some food and got back in bed and listened to the tape and ate breakfast in bed. I copied part of Psalm 146 onto a card and put it in my pocket when I went to work. Because it blessed me tons. ’Cause everything is better when you’re focused on God and not on yourself. Is there anything that you would like to say to kids in other countries? I hope the people who read this won’t think I’m lazy or anything. I really don’t think they will.

이번 주에는 무엇을 하고 지냈나요? 음, 일요일에는 교회에 갔고 친구 Shelby에게 전화했어요. 저는 혼자 가려고 했는데, Shelby가 부모님이 자기만 두고 교회에 가셨다고 해서 함께 갔어요. 교회가 끝난 후 가게에 가서 음식을 사서 공원에서 먹었는데 정말 아름다웠어요. 저는 일주일 내내 학교에 다녔어요. 방과 후에는 며칠 동안 일을 하러 갔어요. 저는 은퇴자 공동주택에서 일해요. 은퇴자 공동주택이 무엇인지 설명해 주는 게 좋겠네요. 네. 부유한 노인분들이 사는 큰 동네 같은 곳이에요. 머물기에 좋은 곳이고, 간호사가 필요한 분들을 위한 생활 지원 구역도 있어요. 정말 재미있지만 힘든 일이기도 해요. 저는 식당에서 일해요. 저는 노인분들과 함께 일하는 것을 정말 즐겨요. 그분들 중 일부는 제 친구들이에요. 항상은 아니지만 가끔은 당신이 그들을 축복한다는 것을 알 수 있어요. 단지 그곳에 있음으로써요. 또 무엇을 하고 지냈나요? 저는 이번 주에 육상을 시작했어요. 육상 시즌은 두 달 전에 시작됐지만, 여자 선수 두 명이 다쳐서 코치가 제가 뛸 수 있는지 물어봤어요. 다른 사람들은 모두 몸이 만들어져 있었기 때문에, 저는 뛰면서 속으로 “아야!” 하고 있었어요. 그날은 금요일이었고, 그래서 저는 두 번째 직장인 일본 식당으로 가서 웨이트리스 일을 했어요. 정말 바빴기 때문에 저는 거의 죽도록 일했어요. 왜냐하면 청소도 해야 하고 할 일이 많기 때문이에요. 친구가 저를 데리러 왔고, 우리는 일이 끝난 후 그녀의 집으로 생일 파티를 하러 갔어요. 우리는 아이스크림을 너무 많이 먹었고 너무 늦게까지 깨어 있었어요. 왜냐하면 저는 토요일 아침 일찍 일어나 학교에 가서 봉사활동으로 조경 일을 도와야 했기 때문이에요. 우리 학교에서는 매년 일정 시간의 봉사활동이 요구되기 때문에 저는 제가 좋아하는 일을 선택해요. 저는 정말 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요. 잡초를 뽑고 잔디를 깎고 화분에 꽃을 심는 일치고는 말이에요. 저는 허리를 혹사했어요. 왜냐하면 인도의 벽돌 틈 사이에 낀 이끼를 제거해야 했기 때문이에요. 그것은 꽤 힘들었어요. 저는 집에 가서 낮잠을 잤고, 그 후 다시 일본 식당으로 일하러 갔어요. 그러니까 정말 바쁘군요. 당신은 자신의 삶을 즐기나요? 네, 그래요. 가끔은 이렇게 바쁜 것이 싫어요. 오늘은 11시에 출근해야 했기 때문에 교회에 갈 수 없었어요. 그래서 저는 설교 테이프와 음식을 가져와 다시 침대로 가서 테이프를 들으며 침대에서 아침을 먹었어요. 저는 시편 146편의 일부를 카드에 적어서 출근할 때 주머니에 넣었어요. 왜냐하면 그것이 저에게 엄청난 힘이 되었기 때문이에요. 왜냐하면 자신이 아니라 하나님께 집중할 때 모든 것이 더 좋아지기 때문이에요. 다른 나라의 아이들에게 해주고 싶은 말이 있나요? 이 글을 읽는 사람들이 제가 게으르다고 생각하지 않았으면 좋겠어요. 저는 정말 그렇게 생각하지 않을 거라고 생각해요.
